Will the Air Force pay for your college education past the bachelor's degree?

Posted by: admin  :  Category: college education degree

How much college benefits does the Air Force give you? After the USAF, I plan on going on to four-year college at Ohio State University, then getting a master's and then a PhD. How much of this will they pay? Am I on my own after I get my bachelor's?

Or am I ridiculous to even think they'd consider paying for graduate school?

When you enroll in school you'll go to their VA department and they'll get you set up with the GI Bill. You will only get the GI Bill for 36 months (a normal 4 years of school.) The money is paid to you, not the school.

I would suggest your first 2 years be at a community college, it costs less. In fact my 1 month of GI bill money was able to pay for 15 credits and all my books. This is at a community college. I have gotten 4 months of money that I don't owe to anyone. You could save this money and then when you go to further your education (which courses cost more) you would still have GI bill money in your bank account to use.

The Air Force will pay nothing, The program that does is a Federal one, not an Air Force one.

The millitary will pay for graduate programs, but they have to be in a field the millitary can use (engineering, law, medicine) and you'll have a longer commitment. The G.I. Bill will not last you into grad school.

I'm not sure how it works now, but my husband got almost all the way through his PhD on the GI Bill. He just needed to do his thesis, but his GI Bill ran out so he had to drop out. This was a long time ago.

Oh, and my ex-husband got his Masters with the GI Bill.

Have you considered ROTC? We have several scholarships…plus stipend plus book money. You can get your masters on AD. College ROTC is not like high school ROTC.

I worked for a Captain when I was in Korea that went into a PHD program that the Air Force paid for. Not bad if you can get it.
