What are the best totally ONLINE schools out there for accounting degrees?

Posted by: admin  :  Category: online accounting degree

I work full time and the nearest college to me is an hour away. I know some companies may feel that online degrees are not as good, but I don't feel I have a choice. However, I do want to go to a college that is regionally recognized and accredited, one that will transfer over to any other college later on when I go back for my masters. Any suggestions? Thanks

In my experience online degrees have grown considerably both in the eyes of potential employers and schools offering the programs. In fact many schools do not indicate whether a degree is obtained online or on campus. I do think you are on the right track in making sure that the college is regionally accredited. Additionally I would make sure that you look around at multiple schools (as you would if you were going to a campus) and see what program is best for you. I would also make sure you ask about transferring credits or degrees for later pursuits. I did a search for accredited accounting degrees online and this site seems to have good info and some schools for you to check out. Good luck!

Finding Employment When You’re Just Starting Out

Posted by: admin  :  Category: online accounting degree

If it’s your first job out of high school, college, or university, you might be perplexed as to how to find employment. But you needn’t worry; there are plenty of ways to snag employment.

Employment Hint #1: Write an excellent resume

One of the biggest mistakes that job seekers make is to not have an effective resume (called a curriculum vitae or CV overseas). If you’ve never written one before, now is the time to beef up your skills in this area. You can actually find help from a number of sources, including at your local library and on the Internet. There are also many online firms that will write resumes for you, but be wary. If you’re just starting out in your career, it’s unlikely that these services will be very helpful. Instead, stick with less costly methods for putting together a resume.

Employment Hint #2: Tell everyone you’re on the lookout

One of the best ways to find employment is to tell every person you know that you’re actively seeking a job. For many persons, the first job is found through friends. It’s really the law of averages – the more people who are aware of your employment search, the more chances that a job offer will come through.

Employment Hint #3: Check online and print sources for employment

Don’t forget to look through your local paper for employment classified ads. Though this might seem “low tech” in today’s cyber world, it’s a great way to find your first job. You can also try looking online at Hotjobs, Careerbuilder, and Monster. Just be wary of any employment “opportunity” that seems too good to be true, because it probably is.

Employment Hint #4: Don’t stay unemployed for long

Even if you have to take a low-paying job, it’s important for you to continue to make money while searching for steady employment. If you have to flip burgers for a while, so be it; at least you’ll be showing some initiative. Many first-time job seekers (and even mature job seekers) forget that there’s no shame in taking on a minimum wage job to pay the bills until a higher paying employment option comes along.

Employment Hint #5: Join a professional group

If you’ve graduated from college or university with a professional degree, why not invest in a membership to a local organization? For instance, if you have a degree in accounting, there could be a professional accounting nonprofit in your area. By becoming a member, you may just hear about employment openings that aren’t offered to the public. You’ll also meet people who could help you get a job or who would be willing to employ you themselves.

Remember that the savvy job seeker always exhausts every avenue and never gives up. When you’re looking for employment, it can seem as if time is just standing still, but if you play your cards right, you’ll find a job long before your bank account has fizzled out.

Best online accredited Accounting Degree?

Posted by: admin  :  Category: online accounting degree

I am looking at NYIT's Ellis College, University of Maryland, and Kaplan University. They all seem a bit expensive but I am a full-time single mom and work full-time. Thanks.

Of the three you list, NYIT Ellis probably has the best reputation.

An important consideration to think about – if you plan to take your state's CPA exam, you need to make sure the program you pick is approved for that purpose.

some other choices include Excelsior College, City U Seattle, Thomas Edison State, Upper Iowa, Utah State, Columbia (Mo), Eastern Oregon, Emporia State, Indiana Wesleyan, Liberty U, Northeastern U, NW Missouri State, Old Dominion, Saint Mary of the Woods, Southern New Hampshire U., U Hawaii Oahu, UMass, U Wisconsin, …..

Louisiana State has a good selection of online accounting courses but no degree program online.

A lot of community colleges have their AS in accounting online. This is a pretty inexpensive option if your local CC is one of them. Just make sure it's accounting and not bookkeeping. Or, you could do your gen ed/core via the CC online and save a few $10Ks that way.

Excelsior College has a track in their accounting for the NY CPA. The advantage to Excelsior is that you can take your classes at any school (find the cheapest) and transfer them in.

I will be joining the air force and taking classes online probobly at university of Texas, or Univ of florida. In 4 years could I complete a bachelors in accounting? I just want to know because if not im just going to finish up my bachelor degree when i get out the service in 4 years. If i dont complete all four years then about how much will I get finished?

much depends on where you are deployed and how much time you will have free to do your coursework. you MIGHT be able to finish in as little as 3 years, but you will have such a heavy load that you might not want to consider that.

Anybody know a college which offers an online degree program in B.S. Accounting?

Posted by: admin  :  Category: online accounting degree

I have been looking for an online degree program, undergraduate BS in accounting, but have found little. The ones I found are online colleges like university of pheonix, or devry. I am trying to find a state or a campus college which offers BS in accounting because usually tuition is cheaper. Another important factor I have in mind, is the school known for accounting program. I want to be able to grab a decent job after graduating.

You could also consider:

Thomas Edison State College http://www.tesc.edu
Charter Oak State College http://www.cosc.edu

These offer the flexibility to take your courses wherever you'd like and transfer them in or to test out of courses.
