College Online Education

I am considering enrolling in the U of PHX online MBA program. Has anyone done this? What do you know about U of PHX? Is a Masters from there as good as a Masters from say, U of MI? I know my diploma would not say "received online", but does it matter if it is an online degree or one from grad school I actually attended after college graduation?

Employers tend to have an extreme dislike for the U of P MBA. It's extremely polarizing. A lot of employers will take one look at your resume and literally toss it in the trash. I can not, in good conscience, recommend it.

It's not considered of good quality.

Many employers, such as Proctor and Gamble, so much dislike the U of Phoenix program that they've actually stated that, from now on, they will only hire graduates of AACSB accredited programs.

Ideally, if you can, attend an AACSB accredited program. The AACSB website lists them. If that's not possible, then at least attend a program that has a good reputation, in your region. U of MI would be a much better choice.

I am seriously considering starting a program in the next 6-12 months but am unsure what doors it would open to me. If you have experience either as an MBA candidate and/or as an employer please respond.

A big factor in this is what university you attend. Please, please, please do not use University of Phoenix. They will take your money and give you a worthless piece of paper.

If you are looking for some credible distance options please look at the Univesity of Nebraska- Lincoln, Arizona State University or some other respectable brick in mortar school that happens to have an online option.

Assuming you take my advice and get a credible degree, your options are quite open. The best path is to use your degree to accelerate you in your specific field to take advantage of your current experience. There are a wide variety of jobs you will be qualified for however there is no job whose requirements are limited to just a MBA. In most fields an MBA is a great supplement but you must meet experience or industry knowledge requirements.

I have a friend who is attempting to come to the US from Romania and who is looking to apply to MBA programs. I know that studentdoctor.net is great for med school and that there is a great one for law school. There has to be a good one for B-schools, too.

Any ideas?

Just general forums or ones with international forums would be good, as well. I just know that for medicine and law, there is a gigantic amount of good info out there. I just haven't see it for B-schools.

The Official MBA Guide is the best. In addition to a forum, it is a public service with information on hundreds of quality MBA programs all over the world.
