Is there such a thing as a legitimate PhD (Doctorate in business) which can be obtained online?

Posted by: admin  :  Category: distance learning phd

I know some distance learning courses offering PhD and/or DBA, but I do not know how convincing this is to prospective employers and peers. Do people look down on "distance learning" doctorate degrees? Is it worth the $15,000 to $40,000?

I currently work and would want to get a doctorate part-time. In the country I reside in, there are universities which offer part-time brick-and-mortar doctorate degrees. What do I do?

Ideally, you would want to go to a school which is recognized in the research field you were considering. A doctorate degree is bestowed to a student who the academe feels merits the former to be called a peer. This is normally done in the traditional schools.

However, there have been some legitimate schools who focus on self-study and who offer the same challenge as brick-and-mortar. There are so much diploma mills in the world that you really have to pick the right school. In order to remove doubt and skepticism, you better focus on getting in a traditional university, where you can interact with your professors and fellow students.

I want to pursue a degree in Nutrition. Should I pursue a degree via distance learning or on campus?

Posted by: admin  :  Category: distance learning phd

Eastern Michigan University and Kaplan University offers a Bachelor’s Degree in Nutrition, and other online colleges offer Master’s, and even PHD degrees. It would save me the cost of transportation and living expenses, and I have been homeschooled over a cyber school, so I’m used to the whole online thing. The distance learning program requires real world experience in the field, so I would be doing hands on work as well. However, I don’t know how jobs would view a distant learning degree and if they would still hire me as readily.

Do some research. Find 10 places that would employ nutritionists and call and ask them how they regard distance learning and employability. My guess is E Michigan would be higher rated than a place that is distance only but that is just a guess. One possibility would be to see if you can do a combo of on campus and distace such as summer on campus or one or 2 quaters on campus.

Anotehr factor is whether having an on campus, group learning vs individually paced experience some of the time and being on your own there may be important to you personally, socially, emtionally, etc. or if you would prefer not to be away from home. A sub factor here is what other interpersonal interactions you have wth different types of people since you wll deal w/ a diversity of ppl in most work.

what are the advantages and disadvantages of doing a masters distance learning? are they well recognised?

i would like to do my masters in law and pursue a career in legal reseach and lecturing. If possible i would want to do a Phd. I wonder if doing masters y distance learning would prejudice my prospects

I too am a law student although I am not doing a Masters by distance learning so you might want to take my opinions with a pinch of salt, however,…

I am currently doing my degree part time and am coming to the end. I study at my local uni here having considered doing the same degree but by distance learning with another establishment. I suppose it depends on the type of person you are and what other outside distractions you will have at home. I personally enjoy the interaction with other students and the personal feedback I have from lecturers. If I didn't have this, I would not be motivated and would put things off all the time. But it depends on what you are like – are you very self-motivated?

Could you consider doing a Masters part time at your local uni? It would probably be a lot more fun and you will be well-placed for any vacancies which came up.

I understand to do a Phd you need someone to mentor you who already has a Phd in your specific research area and I would think this would be a whole lot easier to arrange if you actually know the lecturer rather than just by e-mail.

I don't think distance learning is looked down upon in the greater scheme of things as many of the good law unis are offering the option.

I would to study PhD in English via distance learning. Is it possible ?

Posted by: admin  :  Category: distance learning phd

Yes it is possible but you will have to check with the university you wish to apply to. Some don't do distance learning. Also, you will have to make sure that you are close to a local university library or source of books needed for the course to be able to complete the work. Also, PhD's take 3 years normally but can tke up to twice that if doing it part time. Hope this helps.
